You can, but it's rarely necessary given the volume the fans already provide. If you do use mascara, choose a water-based formula — oil-based products can break down the bond and shorten wear time.
Soak a cotton pad in an oil-based micellar water or a dedicated lash bond remover and press it gently against the lash line for 30–60 seconds. The clusters should slide off without tugging. Never pull them dry.
